Greg Eason Illustrations >>> Imminent Voids of Mortality, Spirituality, Life, and Nature

In a sea of psychedelic art, there is something very refreshing about Greg Eason‘s sparse illustrations…and incredibly thought provoking. Without all of the distractions found in most visionary art, I am left feeling a great sense of freedom in these pieces paralleled with a slight uneasiness. It is amazing how something so simple can carry so much meaning.

Greg Eason’s practice deals with a formal and conceptual dissection of space. His meticulously detailed and characteristically sparse drawings and paintings isolate and monumentalise narrative fragments and translate this into a microscopic frame. Objects become rendered as intricate miniature components within a vast negative space- creating an uneasy sense of depth and scale. His works often depict isolated characters gazing into some far-off yet imminent unspecified void. Objects are also presented as symbols- eggs and skulls are recurring motifs. The ideas explored within his practice comment upon mortality, spirituality, life, nature and the history of mankind.”
